My journey began in northern Mexico, where I was shaped by my mother’s entrepreneurial spirit and the deep connection our culture holds with nature. Years later, while living abroad in China, I experienced a severe acne outbreak that became a turning point in my life. A traditional Chinese doctor helped me realize that my skin’s imbalance was not just physical — it reflected an emotional disconnection from myself and my environment.

That awakening inspired me to seek balance — to merge ancient wisdom and modern science, emotion and biology, nature and self. I longed for the healing plants of my homeland, those I once used as a young girl to create my own facials. Their absence reminded me how powerful and sacred Mexico’s botanicals truly are — tepezcohuite, cactus stem cell, cacao, marigold, agave, mamey seed, hibiscus — each carrying ancestral wisdom and energy.

Through this journey, I reconnected with the Mayan philosophy of harmony, which teaches that the sun and moon guide our cycles and remind us of our unity with the natural world. This understanding became the heart of Ki’olal: to bring balance beyond the skin — to nurture the mind, soul, and spirit through the senses.
